Destination Overview
Desaru Coast is the result of a state-led 20-year development plan to create a single-destination resort cluster within day-reach of Singapore. The Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal at Tanjung Pengelih links to Tanah Merah in Singapore (90 minutes total including ferry).
Branded inventory: Hard Rock Hotel Desaru, Anantara Desaru, The Westin Desaru, One&Only Desaru (opening). Two championship golf courses, The Els Club (Ocean Course and Valley Course). Adventure Waterpark Desaru and Riverside theme park share the resort grid.
Demand profile is Singapore weekend escape, regional MICE, and incentive groups that need a beach resort within 2 hours of a major hub. Beaches are wide and sandy but face the open South China Sea, best surf and current conditions December–February (which is high season for the area).
We position Desaru in Malaysia programmes as the alternative to a domestic flight to the east coast islands, better infrastructure, weaker swimming, easier logistics.
